Plant Sugar Baby Watermelon seeds in full sun 1" deep and 3' apart. Grow time is 75 days. Plant in fertile, warm soil after danger of frost has passed. Sow seeds in groups of 4 to 6" raised hills. Once the plants are 1 to 2" tall, thin to the 2 or 3 strongest seedlings in each group. Keep plants well-watered and weeded. Watermelons need 1 to 2" of rain per week. Do not move the vines.

You can tell that the watermelons are ripe when the tendrils next to the fruit turn brown. The place where the fruit rested on the ground will turn a creamy yellow color. Cut the watermelons from the vines using sharp shears. You can store your watermelons in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. To store leftover watermelon, wrap the cut side in plastic and store in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
