Peppermint Planting Instructions:
Peppermint can be sown indoors before transplanted outside after the danger of frost has passed, or it can be planted as a potted plant. If starting indoors, plant the seeds 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost. After a week or two, seedlings should emerge. Transplant to full sun or partial shade. Because mint breeds can spread out vigorously, they do best in containers or in raised beds. To prepare a bed, turn the soil under to a depth of 8". Set plants 18" apart. Make sure the weeks are kept under control and the plants get about 1" of water a week.

Peppermint Harvesting Instructions:
Harvest peppermint leaves as needed. Before the plant flowers, cut stems 1" from the ground. After cutting plants back, you may get a second harvest in the same season. Used fresh or dried, peppermint can be used as an ingredient in a healthy and delicious tea. You can also use the leaves to freshen salads and desserts.

Did You Know This About Peppermint?
Peppermint oil is used in construction and plumbing as a way to test the pipes for leaks. If the scent of peppermint can be detected outside of the pipe, it's a good indication that the pipe has a leak.
